Wreath making workshop

People have been making wreaths as a symbol of renewal and to celebrate Yule and the returning of the light for millennia. They have also been used to symbolize eternity and continuity, as well as to ward off evil spirits and celebrate the return of spring. No matter why you choose to display a wreath outside of your home, wreaths made from wild harvested materials that are put together by hand are a beautiful addition to welcome guests and celebrate the festive season.

Join us to create your own unique, one-of-a-kind evergreen wreath that you will take home with you. We will discuss choosing and harvesting materials, how to make a base from either grapevine or other wildcrafted branches, along with all of the equipment needed to make your own unique wreath! All of the materials will be provided to make your wreath, and you will have your choice of different evergreen branches, cones, and berries to choose from - all locally-sourced and handpicked (free from pesticides as we harvest them from the forest, not from a commercial Christmas tree farm where the trees are typically sprayed with chemicals.) You will also have your choice of ribbon to create a bow or other feature of your creation should you choose.

The completed wreaths will be approximately 24” wide, the perfect size to hang on your front door or beside the entrance to your home.

It is highly suggested that you bring a pair of gardening gloves and either an apron or jacket that you don’t mind getting a little sappy as the evergreen branches can be a bit sticky. You will also need to bring a pair of pruning shears to trim your materials.

There will also be tea (herbal & black), coffee, mineral water, and a charcuterie board of tasty appetizers.

About Your Facilitator
Terry is co-owner and operator here at Twisted Roots Farm and she has a deep passion for making handcrafted creations using materials and ingredients sourced from our farm and forest or from other local farms. She loves rekindling old traditions, utilizing simple and raw ingredients to create special, one-of-a-kind offerings that have a story and connection to place. Terry also finds great joy in sharing these skills with others, knowing that as we gather together to engage in creativity and make offerings with our hands, we are also building resilient communities and reconnecting with what it truly means to be human. Her spare time (what is that when you farm?!?) is spent writing, crafting, and creating, as well as cuddling our adorable goats, dogs, and cats.
