Salves & Infusions Workshop

Infusing herbs and making salves for yourself and your family and friends is an incredibly easy and rewarding experience. There are so many wonderful uses for the herbs that grow in our gardens as well as the wild beauties who grace our yards and wild spaces. Salves can be used to treat a variety of minor injuries, bug bites, burns, skin issues, muscle aches, dry skin, and more.
During this workshop, we will explain how to harvest and dry the herbs, the various methods for infusing herbs in oil, and then how to add beeswax to make just the right consistency of salve. The oil that we will be using is lard from our heritage pigs, however, the process is very similar with different oils such as olive oil, so you can easily transfer these methods to the oil of your choosing. You will also learn about the medicinal uses and benefits of Plantain and Comfrey leaves, Chamomile and Calendula flowers, and Chickweed, as these are the plants that we will use to create the salves that you will take home with you.
You will leave the workshop with three tins of salve and our basic salve recipe with instructions for how to make them.

This workshop includes three different salves (Plantain & Comfrey, Chamomile & Calendula, and Chickweed), as well as coffee, tea (herbal & black), mineral water, and delicious baked goods.

About Your Facilitator
Terry is co-owner and operator here at Twisted Roots Farm and she has a deep passion for making handcrafted creations using materials and ingredients sourced from our farm and forest or from other local farms. She loves rekindling old traditions, utilizing simple and raw ingredients to create special, one-of-a-kind offerings that have a story and connection to place. Terry also finds great joy in sharing these skills with others, knowing that as we gather together to engage in creativity and make offerings with our hands, we are also building resilient communities and reconnecting with what it truly means to be human. Her spare time (what is that when you farm?!?) is spent writing, crafting, and creating, as well as cuddling our adorable goats, dogs, and cat.
